An environmental benefit of aluminum sulfate is gardening is a big aspect where aluminum sulfate can benefit the environment. The pH of the soil is a big determiner on whether plants will thrive or not (n.a, 2016). Aluminium sulfate is very acidic, and is mixed in with soils that have a higher alkaline, so the pH of the plants will be balanced (n.a, 2015). The way that aluminium sulfate works to balance the pH of soil and plants, is when it comes in contact with water the aluminium sulfate transforms to aluminium hydroxide and a diluted sulfuric acid solution - this results in the changing of the acidity of the soil (Walls-Thumma, 2000). Using aluminium sulfate in gardening is an important environmental factor because, it lowers the pH of a garden resulting in an acidic environment for plants to grow properly. Also, aluminium sulfate is important as it provides essential nutrients to plants to help them flourish. As recycling water is becoming more and more common aluminium sulfate is used, because when aluminium sulfate is mixed with water it ends up changing its form over many different ionization levels (Muotka, n.d.). This is important because that then helps attract the pollutants in the water making big clumps and settling to the bottom, thus making it easier for the water to be cleaned and recycled (Boyd, 2014). Using aluminium sulfate in the water purification system is important because this process is an efficient way for water to filter and be reused. Using aluminium sulfate as a filtration device makes it easier, safer, and faster to clean water. Using aluminium sulfate to purify water is important because it causes the microscopic impurities to clump together and form and settle down to the bottom for easy filtration, that results in safe use.
