Aluminium sulfate, when used in water purification uses its property of solubility as it dissolves in the contaminated water and attracts all the impurities and makes bigger clumps and settles to the bottom for easier filtration. According to the solubility chart, both aluminium and sulfur have a solubility greater than or equal to 0.1 mol/L, which is why it easily dissolves in water and is widely used in the water purification system and in the cloth dyeing production. Since aluminium sulfate is an acid it produces hydrogen gas when it reacts with zinc or magnesium. This proves it to be an acid, which is why it is commonly used in the industry and why a detriment is inhaling it.

Aluminium sulfate is a molecular compound which is another property that allows aluminium sulfate to be widely known and used as an acid. This knowledge is used in gardening from time to time, because knowing that the properties of aluminium sulfate make it an acid, putting it in soil helps plants like hydrangeas grow. Also, in cosmetics when aluminium sulfate is used, the melting point is something that is very important, the melting point of aluminium sulfate is 770 degrees celsius. This melting point has occurred because of the increased amount of electrons present in aluminium sulfate which have increased the London Forces that are present. Because of this high melting point aluminium sulfate is easy to alter and use in the industry of cosmetics.
